Clonoe O’Rahilly’s G.F.C. Notes week ending 21/06/15

Last week lotto numbers were 1, 14, 21 and 22. There were no jackpot winners. Two matched three numbers; Declan McClure and Tommy Taggart. Next week’s jackpot is £1975.

Last week proved to be a very successful week in our club with two county titles coming back to Clonoe. It was kicked off on Thursday night when our minor ladies were going for the double. Playing against local rival Coalisland for the third time in a few weeks, this promised to be a close encounter. Playing against a strong breeze in the first half the Clonoe ladies were up against it. At half time it didn’t look good as Coalisland were seven points up. In the second half Clonoe finally got going and built up a lead. With five minutes to go it looked like Clonoe were going to win but a few scores by Coalisland meant it was a nervy last few minutes. But when the final whistle went Clonoe had won the game by two points. This meant that our minor ladies had completed the double by winning the league and the championship. Well done to all the players and the management team of Gerard Corr, Aidan McVeigh, Sharon Trainor and Colly Doris.

On Saturday the second county final of the week took place when our u14 boys took on Eglish in the league final. After a nervy start to the game the young Clonoe lads finally settled and in the last fifteen minutes of the half they played some excellent football to build up a lead at half time. In the second half the Clonoe lads kept the score board ticking and when the final whistle went this meant that the second title this week was on its way to Clonoe. Well done to all the players and the management team of Cathal Campbell, Terry O’Neill and Sean Og Lynch. This isn’t the end of the u14 season as the young Clonoe team has a championship final on Wednesday night at half seven in Killyman. All support welcomed.

On Tuesday night our u21s kicked of their campaign with a game against local rivals Coalisland. Down a few players it looked like an ominous task for the Clonoe team. But playing with great determination and heart they battled throughout the 60 minutes and at the end of the game they deservedly ran out winners by 6 points.

Our seniors and reserves kept up their 100% records with two wins on Sunday against Eglish.
