Club Notes Week Ending 06/09/15

Last week lotto numbers were 11, 19 23 and 24. There were no jackpot winners. One matched three numbers; R McCourt. Next week’s jackpot is £2250.

Pride of place this week goes to our u14 girls who won the grade 2 championship. After a slow start the Clonoe ladies got going halfway through the first half and they went in at the break leading. In the second half it was score for score but a vital save by Liza Hughes proved a major turning point as after that save Clonoe kicked for home. At the final whistle there were joyous scenes. The cup was lifted by the captain Niamh Hughes. Great credit must go to the players and the club would like to think the management team of Cathal Campbell, Dolores Hughes and Gerard Hughes. Their league final is set for the 19th September; venue has yet to be decided yet.

The senior and reserves got two good results on Sunday when they beat Ardboe.

Last Wednesday night our u16 play Edendork in the first round of the championship. In what was an excellent game of football both teams played their hearts out. With 5 minutes to go the game was level but both teams had chances but couldn’t convert them. It was then onto extra time. In extra time at half time it was still level but at the start of the 2nd period of extra time Clonoe kicked for home with 3 unanswered points which put them a point up. Edendork responded by getting two scores. With a late free to level the game Ronan Taggart scored a great free to ensure both teams have another day out. Both teams were a credit to their clubs.

The u13 boys started their campaign last Friday night with a game against Stewartstown. In a game in which Clonoe battled hard throughout Stewartstown were able to get goals at key times in the game to give them the victory.

The club would like to congratulate both Shane Hughes and Niamh Quinn who represented the club and St Pats Annaghmore at half time on Saturday in Croke Park.

The big wait is finally over. Our big cycle takes part this week. After plenty of training everyone is rearing to go. You are asked to come down and support our cyclists when they come back to the club. There is music upstairs after it at 9 with music from Fearghal O’Neill and food as well. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The winner of the bonus ball last week was Conor Taggart with nr 40.
